Haiku Stairs also identified as Stairway to Heaven or Ha'ikū Ladder, which were 4000 (or so) steps in 1942 could be strung structured antenna cables from one particular side of the cliffs of the valley Ha'ikū other - Radio signals could get Navy submarines of the United States so far Tokyo bank (even if the submarines have been sunk!)
