The Statue of Decebalus, Romania

The statue of Decebalus is positioned close to the town of Orsova, in southwestern Romania. The statue is carved into the rock and mountain illustration Decebalus, The Last King of Dacia (Dacia was the land occupied by the Dacians, in the 1st century BC and the 2nd century AD, Dacia is in present-day Romania). The monument is about 40 meters high (the tallest rock sculpture in Europe).
The Statue of Decebalus can only be reached by a boat trip, but it can be seen from the road (there is even a sort of parking lot to cease and see the Danube and the monument by far.) The Statue of Decebalus took ten years to carve and even if it appears like it's as old as the ruler of Dacia there to say, it is rather new in this planet is (sculpture 1994-2004) - Twelve sculptors worked on it. The entire project was proposed and financed by one particular of the richest ever lived Romanians, Iosif Constantin Drăgan Organization (1917 - 2008), it is assumed that Daragan spent $ 1 million on this project. There is an inscription (in Latin) just beneath the carved face, says :. "Decebalus REX DRAGAN FECIT" (or in English - "King Decebal-Created by Dragan")
